Past Activity: 2023 "Summer Walking in the Malverns"
Summer Dates: Friday 23rd June to Monday 26th June 2023 Price : £270 per person, 3 nights accommodation, bed and breakfast excluding evening meals A number of visually impaired walkers explored the beauty of the Malvern Hills? They were able to spend a day in the fresh air walking with a new group of friends -other walkers and guides. Sense Adventures brought together blind and sighted walkers together to share the varied landscape of the Malvern Hills from woods and streams in the South to rolling countryside above Herefordshire and The Cotswolds.
The holiday involved a 3-night stay at the historic Dell House bed and breakfast in Malvern Wells situated at the foot of the Malvern Hills. The Dell House dates from the 19th century. The owners have lovingly restored the 2 acres of garden featuring specimen trees and interesting tactile wooden sculptures. Throughout their stay the walkers had the opportunity to explore this beautiful garden.
The experience included:
3 nights bed and breakfast en suite accommodation in the Victorian Dell House at the foot of the Malvern Hills with stunning views across to the Cotswolds and 2 acres of restored garden.
Accommodation on a twin sharing basis. All rooms have ensuite facilities.
The provision of one-to-one guides throughout the weekend.
Transport from local railway station Great Malvern. Walkers were met off your train and driven the short distance to the Dell House.
Guided walks on the Malvern Hills on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday walk was around 7 miles with a shorter walk on the Sunday.
Guide dogs were welcomed too. Dog beds were provided in the rooms, with help to look after the dogs as necessary.
Arrived around 4pm.
Checked into your room and orientation by one of the Sense Adventures guides.
Gathered on the terrace for tea and cake and guided tour of the fascinating gardens with features including tactile wooden sculptures and specimen trees.
Evening meal was at local pub accompanied by Sense Adventures guides.
After a nourishing breakfast we spent the day on the Malvern Hills taking in a picnic at one of the peaks and stopping at a café along the walk.
Returned to Dell House around 5pm.
Tea and cake at the Dell House and a chance to enjoy the setting and gardens.
Evening meal at Dell House which was a take-away from a local restaurant (not included in price).
Breakfast followed by a shorter walk on the Malvern Hills with a café stop.
Light lunch at the Dell House (included in price).
Afternoon visit to a place of historic interest.
Sunday evening meal was a take-away from a local restaurant (not included in price).
People departed at 11am
Please note that packed lunches on Saturday, evening meals and lunch on Sunday were not included in the price. However, afternoon tea on Friday and Saturday was included.
